On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, a delegation led by Finnish Minister of Economy Mika Lintilä visited the school fission reactors of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague (FNSPE) in Troja, Prague. At the Department of Nuclear Reactors, visitors were welcomed by the rector of CTU, doc. Vojtěch Petráček, head of department Jan Rataj, head of reactor operation Filip Fejt and doc. Ľubomír Sklenka, who was at the beginning of the VR-2 project. The Finnish minister visited Prague as part of events connected with the Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union. Jiří Ondruška from the Department of Strategy, Research and International Cooperation in Nuclear Energy of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic brought the delegation to the FNSPE. Representatives of the Řež Research Center also arrived and talked together about current issues of nuclear energy. The entire expedition then went on a tour of the VR-1 school reactor, and they also saw the progress of construction work on the VR-2 reactor, which should be launched later this year. "Of course, we also showed the fuel that we received as a gift from Finland's Aalto University back in 2018, when preparations for the construction of the second school reactor were already underway," explains Jan Rataj. KJR closely cooperates with this Finnish university, its students regularly come to Prague for a weekly course on the VR-1 reactor.
